Onderwerp: eerste zeilboot

Hello everyone,

This is my first post in the forum, and i would like to share a couple of photos of my recently bought first sailboat, a Fellowship 28! After months of searching, i finally found her










I will still personalize her in the next months, so i will probably ask some wisdom about this Dutch beauty around the forum

PS: Sorry for the english post - i live in the Netherlands not for long and my Dutch is still to basic to not sound silly!
But i've asked the admin if it would be fine to post in english and i had the ok, so here it is!

Welcome Benthic to zeilersforum.

The Fellowship 28 is a lovely boat, a bit slow.
But she makes up for it with charisma, and can handle a lot of wind.

thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
my plans with the boat (as asked by @Sonador), are first and foremost to gain some experience in the Markermeer and IJsselmeer, and maybe hop around the Gooimeer islands (any good advice on sailing areas is much appreciated!).
Afterwards when i feel confident enough i'll venture into the North Sea - although i've had always ocean experience since i'm from Lisbon - Portugal, I had done it with a bigger boat and crew. Once ready, i'll cross to the UK. And after that, the big goal is to sail her all the way to my hometown, Lisbon. Not in the next year or two, but let's see how I handle it!

I'm also open for crew applications btw

Once a year we have a meeting in Lelystad at Haddocks.
It is a possibillity to meet a number of participating members of Zeilersforum in real life.

Normally we also organize a pair "wet meeting" in a harbour somewhere where we sail to and spend some time together.

The wintermeet is 23-2

haha, good question! this is indeed my first one, so for now i'll just enjoy her as much as i can.
if there will be a second one, it's still far in the future. the plans for this one are ultimately taking her to my hometown Lisbon and maybe beyond, either Mediterranean, Madeira or Canary Islands. still a bit in the future.

For now i'll just enjoy the Markermeer and IJsselmeer, then North Sea

The Fellowship will be a great ship on inshore waters and exploring Markermeer and IJsselmeer, but I doubt it will prove as good offshore. You may find that by the time you want to sail the North Sea for more than day trips, it is time for the 'tweede zeilboot'.
In the meantime: happy sailing!

Would that be because of its shallow draft? Or some other reason?
I'm really interested in your opinion because my plan is to take her to Portugal someday.
I know of a Fellowship 27 which successfully made the Atlantic crossing, and many reached (and are even on sale) in the Mediterranean, so for sure it's a capable ship, but i would like to know more insights!
