Ik heb een Nauticast Receiver (ACR 2675) die ook een USB aansluiting heeft. De AIS werkt goed, maar de USB die ik in een raspberry heb gestoken niet. Nou heb ik Linux driver voor deze AIS gedownload, maar ik heb eigenlijk geen idee hoe ik die moet installeren. Het zijn vier bestanden die in folder zitten, namelijk: 'rules. make', 'makefile', 'ftdi_sio.c' en 'ftdi_sio.h'.

Mijn vraag is of iemand mij kan helpen om deze driver te installeren op een raspberry?

Wat voor OS / distributie heb je op de Pi draaien? De namen van de files met sourcecode doen me denken dat er een FTDI chip in zit. Op Openplotter zou ik verwachten dat dat zonder extra installatie van drivers werkt.

Het is de laatste versie van OpenPlotter... Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat ik ook nog nooit drivers heb hoeven installeren. Maar deze AIS weigert zowel op mijn Mac als op de RPI, althans de USB aansluiting. Andere USB devices werken prima op dezelfde RPI.

Kijk eens wat het commando "lsusb" voor output geeft, of "lsusb -v". En "dmesg" vlak nadat je het apparaat hebt aangesloten.

Wat mij wel opviel aan toen ik 'dmesg' commando gaf, waren de laatste twee regels:

Nee, dat is de 1-wire interface om sensors aan de Pi te knopen. Aansluiten van een FTDI chip hoort daar duidelijk tekst over te geven. Ik weet het even niet.

Nou ja, nog een paar dingen om te controleren:
- Als de USB-kabel met een connector aan de AIS-ontvanger zit (lijkt er vast aan te zitten, maar ik vraag het toch even), maakt die goed contact?
- Heb je al geprobeerd om de ontvanger eerst op de Pi of de Mac aan te sluiten en hem daarna pas aan te zetten? En in de omgekeerde volgorde?

Alle usb aansluitingen moet je eenvoudig kunnen zien met het commando lsusb.

Als die daar niet bij staat is er geen fysieke verbinding.

In principe heb je voor usb in Linux geen aparte drivers nodig.

Je zou het ook eens op een ander systeem kunnen proberen en kijken wat er dan tevoorschijn komt.

USB poort van de RPI zou ook defect kunnen zijn, wat overigens niet te verwachten is.

Werkt de serieele NMEA183 verbinding wel ?

De USB poort is niet kapot, want een USB GPS stick werkt er wel in. De seriële verbinding van de AIS werkt inderdaad wel (m.b.v. een serieel/usb converter). Aangezien 'lsusb' ook niets oplevert terwijl de AIS toch echt fysiek verbonden is met een Raspberry USB poort verdenk ik de AIS van een defect...

Bij veel van dit soort AIS is de USB niet galvanisch gescheiden. Waardoor ze snel stuk kunnen. Hier lijkt toch echt een hardware probleem aan de hand te zijn. Doet hij het wel op een vensters computer ?
Als je de USB aan de praat krijgt is het ook niet aan te raden deze voor meer te gebruiken dan instellen van de AIS. Maar niet voor "dagelijks" gebruik.
Tenzij je zeker weet dat jou exemplaar voorzien is van een opto coupler.
dat conservatieven in doorsnee hechten aan veiligheid, voorspelbaarheid en autoriteit, terwijl liberalen zich eerder thuis voelen bij nuance en complexiteit,

3Noreen, bedankt. Ik heb helaas geen vensters computer bij de hand dus dat weet ik niet. Bedankt voor de tip om de USB aansluiting als die al zou werken niet dagelijks te gebruiken, maar alleen voor instellingen. Anyway, ik heb me erbij neergelegd ervan uitgaande dat de USB aansluiting inderdaad kapot is. Ik gebruik nu dus voor continue gebruik de gewone NMEA out aansluiting.

Misschien wel grappig om te vertellen: ik gebruik deze AIS ontvanger om sites als Marinetraffic en nog een aantal vergelijkbare sites te voorzien van AIS gegevens. Ik ben momenteel de uitrusting aan het finetunen om het ontvangstbereik zo groot mogelijk te maken. Wederom puur omdat ik dat een uitdaging vind.

Hier zit ws het probleem, de seriële convertor wordt niet herkend.
Ga eens naar de map:

/sys/class/tty

dit geeft een overzicht van seriële poorten en (verbonden) apparaten.

Kijk of: /sys/class/ttyUSB er in staat

Het commando ll /sys/class/tty/ttyUSB* geeft dan mogelijk de convertor weer, met of zonder * dat weet ik niet van afstand.

Probeer even een andere seriele omvormer. Ik heb er hier nog wel een liggen. Mogelijk is er een probleem met bijvoorbeeld de driver. Is normaal in Linux geen probleem.

Dingen kosten ook vrijwel niets. Ik heb ook nog een magnetisch scheidingsboardje. Kun je ook proberen.

Kleine opmerking: de output van ‘lsusb’ heeft niets te maken met usb client drivers. Deze toont alle ingestoken devices ongeacht of er een driver voor is met informatie zoals vendor en overige gegevens. Deze gegevens worden door het OS gebruikt om te detecteren welke driver geladen dient te worden.

Dus als het USB device na insteken niet wordt getoond bij ‘lsusb’ is het ingestoken device gewoon defect. Wordt het device wel getoond, maar de verwachte block files in ‘/dev’ worden niet aangemaakt, dan ontbreekt de driver voor het device.

Correct. Maar even testen kan geen kwaad.

Test eens als volgt:
AIS los van de adapter halen, kabel uit de Raspberry halen.
lsusb (noteer nu wat je ziet)
AIS los laten, alleen de adapter in de raspberry steken
lsusb (noteer nu wat je ziet)
-> zie je een nieuwe entry met zoiets als Bus 001 Device 002: ID1234:1234 (bij voorbeeld!!!) dan weet je dat de adapter werkt, je weet de vendor etc.

Type nu:
sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1234 product=0x1234 (de getallen achter ID zoals hierboven in het voorbeeld gegeven in rood)

Kijk eerst een of dit werkt?
