Onderwerp: Copenhagen to Almere Transport?

Copenhagen to Almere Transport? 03 feb 2022 11:41 #1365521

Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a Beneteau Evasion 32 wheelhouse ketch in Denmark and need to get it home to Almere Netherlands. I'm willing to sail with a captain but not experienced enough to captain it home myself. I'm willing to pay for transport, but it's a 20K Euro boat so not worth it for some companies and their fees.

Suggestions appreciated.

-Winston

Two years ago I was purchasing a 30ft in sweden.

The cheapest way to transport was (around € 3.000 ex btw and ex toll)

www.bkp-cargo.com/

Roadtransport was cheaper then sailing with a pro, food, travelingcostsnpeople involved, harbour fees , fuel etc. Not counted free days en maintenance costs of the boat or motel/hotelcosts.

(The whole proces was weeks before de first lock down en everything was cancelled when the firs lock down came in , so I had to buy one in the netherlands).

The trainer that thought me to sail my boat in Almere Marina Muiderzand also does deliveries.

So you get a sailing course and delivery at the same time :-)

I have no idea of his rates for delivery. But the training was sensibly priced.

Wow yeah I didn't know it would be that expensive. I got a quote for transport via truck 3748 Euros. Ouch too steep for me.

Well if I can find a reasonable transport price soon I'll make an offer. Then there is inspection to arrange and I will fly to see that (flights are only 50 Euros). So I'm guessing 2 weeks, which makes middle February.

You can also try our member La Mavare who is a proffesional delivery skipper and sail instructor.

Or wait until a transport company has a trip to denmark, so they can pickup yours on the return trip…

I found one in such a situation but they are too fast, and need to ship this week.
Good idea though, thanks.

Hi, I did this by road a couple of years ago and paid a bit over 4K. If I would have to do it again I'd make an effort to go by sea with a co skipper just for the experience. It would also be a bit cheaper (say 1.5K for a co skipper) but with wear and tear etc the gap closes between road/sea. Don't underestimate (like I did...) how much time and effort it takes to prepare the boat for roadtransport ( stepping mast, storage of all appendixes such that it is fit for highway transport etc.). Took me 2 days plus another day on arrival. All in all road DK-NL was not faster than sea I reckon.

Alternatively: boltboattransport.com/

Approx. 150 km closer to Danmark compared to vd Wetering.

Good thing about Denmark is the light paperwork. Just a sales contract and proof of ownership (you'll need a payment receipt). The boat you are considering most likely has no requirement for VAT Paid, CE cert. but double check that. If you go by sea then register the vhf with agentschap telecom in NL prior to departure and get some proof of insurance. Safe travels.
