Onderwerp: Autohelm 1000

Hello All,

I've recently bought a second hand Autohelm 1000 via MP to replace my previous unit which stopped working recently.

After receiving it, I tried on my ship and the moment I connected it, immediately it starts a continuous beep (alarm) and nothing happens... for the ones who know the unit, nothing happens when I push the buttons and the led doesn't blink... only that annoying alarm sound.

I've check the voltage (it's good), when I connect the old unit, I only get one single beep but, this one, doesn't stop.

I cannot extend he rod and I guess it's because of the alarm.

Any ideas? Or... someone who had similar issue can suggest what you did to troubleshoot?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Pedro

Open it up and look.
Maybe the belt is missing, loose contact, oxidation; who knows.
Post soms pictures here.
MP is caveat empor, to be honest.

Plus and minus in the correct order? Maybe someone once exchanged the plug and got the wires mixed up. Not sure if this results in a continuous beep however.

More likely causes:
- corroded flat cable -pcb connection. Remove by pulling out, gently clean connecting pads and reclamp
- stuck pushrod. Can you physically move the rod in and out? Replacing the rubber seal (O-ring?) and lube the arm lightly with silicon grease

Thanks for the replies...

Problem solved... at least for now. Started by applying 12v to the motor to check whether it was seased, which was not the case... it was moving back and forth normally.

Then, removed the flat cable, checked the connection on the circuit board but, nothing suspicious was found. After looking closely at the back of the circuit board, I found a few components which have gotten loose and had to be re-soldered.

Once that was done, the unit was working again fine.

Thanks again for your tips!

Cheers,
Pedro
