Dear mr. Palomaki,
I was told that you are the Wärtsilä representative responsible for iSailor. I currently am an iSailor user. That is a disappointed and frustrated iSailor user.
Recently the program showed that an update was available. During the update the download was abrogated. Restoring the charts is not possible since, not even when the app was removed and reinstalled.
There also comes no response from the helpdesk.
I was using iSailor during my sailing holiday, so your company caused a serious issue. There has been no warning or any other form of communication from Wärtsilä that I, as a paying customer, am aware of.
So, I have some straightforward questions for you:
- is iSailor declared ‘dead’ by Wärtsilä?
- if not, when will the functionality be restored?
- if declared dead, how will customers be compensated for already paid charts?
- when will Wärtsilä communicated about the future of iSailor with its customers?
- how will the customers be compensated for the lack of functionality and support?
In the Netherlands this is a hot topic on the Zeilersforum. I will share this post on this forum, as I also will post your answer.
Note: many sailors on the Zeilersforum still consider iSailor the best, most user friendly, navigation app on iOS. That is, until Wärtsilä took over from Transas.

Hierop kreeg ik een reply dat mijnheer Palomaki momenteel met vakantie. Het zal dus wel even duren voordat een (hopelijk) inhoudelijke reactie te verwachten is.
