Dear Joop,
Thank you very much for your interest in F2 eco.
F2 is 100% free of biocides, silicone, toxins, and VOCs. I’ve attached the product data sheets for your reference. The manufacturer, Ocean Coating from the UK, specializes in developing coatings that have no negative impact on the environment.
If at some point you decide to switch to a different antifouling system, F2 can be removed using our F2 Removal Gel. You simply apply the gel, let it sit for 2–3 hours, and then scrape off the coating easily. This gel is also non-toxic and safe to use.
At the moment, we do not yet have an official dealer in the Netherlands, as we mainly work directly with end customers to ensure smooth and reliable handling. However, we are already in contact with several boatyards in the Netherlands who are interested in using and applying the product. By the time of the METS trade show in November, we expect to be able to announce several local partner yards and service providers.
F2 has only been on the market since January 2025, after more than 10 years of development and testing. That’s why the dealer network is still in the process of being established.
F2 and Coppercoat are actually quite comparable. Both are more durable than traditional antifouling products from major manufacturers. Coppercoat works well after sanding and shows almost no growth in the first few months. However, over time, slime and tubeworms tend to settle, which means you need to scrape it off regularly. Also, to maintain performance, Coppercoat generally needs to be sanded again every 2–3 years.
F2 works differently – it relies on its extremely smooth surface. Especially in the first 12 weeks, while the coating is still compressing underwater, some slime may build up if the boat remains stationary. However, if you regularly sail the boat, the self-cleaning effect will already work very well. Any slime that does form can easily be wiped off with a soft brush.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out at any time.
Best regards,
Markus
